Definition

Suppose $P$ is a finite partially ordered set. Then a chain in $P$ is a set of pairwise comparable elements (i.e. totally ordered subset)

Notes

• a chain in $S$ is subset $A \hookrightarrow S$ such that $\leq$ is a total order on $A$
